Star Sports gives their official verdict on Virat Kohli’s dismissal

Star Sports has weighed in on the controversial no-ball decision involving Virat Kohli during the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The incident occurred when Kohli was dismissed off what seemed to be a waist-high full toss. However, to the surprise of many, the ball was deemed a legal delivery, leading to a heated argument between Kohli and the umpire.

According to Star Sports, the official TV broadcaster of the IPL, the decision to give Kohli out was in accordance with the rules.

“Virat was indeed out as per the official rule book,” they stated. “The rule states that for a delivery to be considered a no ball, the ball must be at waist height as it crosses the stepping crease. In Kohli’s situation, while the ball was at waist height when he encountered it, as it crossed the stepping crease, it was below waist height, making it a fair delivery basis the official rule.”

The dismissal of Kohli was a significant setback for RCB, but they managed to stay in the game thanks to solid performances from Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar, who put on a century stand for the third wicket. Despite late heroics from Karn Sharma, who almost took RCB to victory, KKR held on to win by a narrow margin of one run.

Kohli’s frustration was evident as he walked back to the pavilion, and the controversy surrounding his dismissal is likely to continue to be a topic of discussion in the cricketing world.
