Specially Abled Cricketers In Madhya Pradesh Play Match In Blistering Heat To Raise Election Awareness

It is safe to say that cricket and elections are two major events in India that are celebrated almost as if they are national festivals. As the whole country is busy watching IPL 2024, and gearing up for T20 World Cup 2024, Lok Sabha elections have also started.

One beautiful incident of the mixing of both these ultra famous topics, came from Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar District. This news is the perfect example to display the level of dedication to play and devotion for the country in our citizens.

Cricket As A Means To Raise Awareness:

Indians are real proof that a sport is not just made for entertainment. In Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar an association of differently abled players approached the administration to play a match under the sun in order to motivate the voters. The players seemingly “beat the heat” while chasing the goal to motivate voters.

Dhar is supposed to have their Lok Sabha elections on 13 May, 2024. Ahead of the polling, these players used the massive popularity of cricket in India to grab the attention of their local voters.

These voters would now know that there is no excuse like “heat” that should stop them from voting for the best candidate.

Here’s what the collector said

Dhar’s collector Priyank Mishra stated that several people from Dhar do not show up to vote. They make excuses about the heat, or long waiting lines at the polling booths. The move by these players was applauded by him as it would reach the localites and create some sort of motivation to vote.

In a statement given to ANI Mishra said “Polling in Dhar parliamentary seat will be held on May 13. We have found that many people do not go out to vote on polling day citing small reasons like ‘it is too hot’ and ‘there will be long queues at polling stations’. We received a proposal from an association of specially-abled people in our district that a cricket match should be organised to increase awareness among the voters.”

The match was held between the Dhar team and the Badnawar team. Badnawar won the match. With this, both teams spread their objective, which was if they could come out and play a match in the heat, they could go out to vote too. He added.
