“Special moment to hear” Uganda Captain Brian Masaba Reflects on Emotional World Cup Moment

The fifth day of the T20 World Cup has got a thrilling start. On the first match of the day, Afghanistan faced Uganda at the Providence Stadium. The entire cricket world witnessed a dominating match as Afghanistan defeated Uganda by a huge margin of 125 runs. In front of Afghanistan’s domination, Uganda didn’t stand strong and delivered a poor performance. At the beginning of the tournament, Uganda faced a huge challenge. After the big defeat, Uganda’s skipper Brian Masaba talked about the loss.

In the fifth match of the T20 World Cup, Afghanistan faced Uganda. Choosing to bowl first after winning the toss, Uganda waited until the 15th over to secure their first breakthrough. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran were forming a strong partnership until Brian Masaba dismissed Zadran for 70 runs in the 15th over. Shortly after, Alpesh Ramjani claimed Gurbaz’s wicket. Cosmos Kyewuta then dismissed Gulabdin Naib and Azmatullah Omarzai.

While batting in the second innings, Uganda’s batting lineup shattered even more. Ronak Patel and Simon Ssesazi scored 4 runs each. Mukasa was dismissed on a golden duck. Riazat Ali Shah scored 11 runs in 34 balls. Robinson Obuya scored 14 runs in 25 balls. The other batters couldn’t stand tall. They got all out in 58 runs and faced a defeat of 125 runs. Afghanistan’s dominant performance with both bat and ball secured a convincing victory over Uganda in the T20 World Cup match. Despite Uganda’s efforts, they were unable to withstand Afghanistan’s brilliance.

The win was heartbreaking for Uganda’s side. After the big defeat, Uganda captain Brian Masaba opened up. He said, “ Special moment to hear our national anthem and see our flag at the World Cup. It’s a moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

Later on, he praised the opponent’s performance. He said, “They got a pretty good start. It was about fighting back and I thought we pulled it back pretty well at the end with the ball. Credit to them for playing well. One of the top bowling sides. Good seamers and quality spinners. We will look to bounce back better against PNG.”
