Ganguly shared an opinion on India-Pakistan cricket

Sourav Ganguly, the new BCCI president-elect when asked about the future of India-Pakistan cricket, Ganguly was clear with his reply. He mentioned that bilateral cricket ties with Pakistan will depend on the nod from the Indian Government. He said that the decision of resumption such tie-up could be taken only by the prime ministers from both the nations, Narendra Modi and Imran Khan. On his return to Kolkata during a media briefing, Ganguly said, “You have to ask that question to Modi ji and the Pakistan Prime Minister.”

He further explained that the board is not in a position to take any call in this regard without the Government intervention. According to him, the board would need to seek permission from Government like any other foreign tour for the national cricket team. “Of course we have (to take permission), because international exposure (tours) is all through governments. So we don’t have an answer to that question.”

Ganguly, the leader

Ganguly, former Indian cricket team captain led the Indian team in 2004 during their first tour of Pakistan in 15 years. That was the first bilateral series since the Kargil War in 1999 and India’s first tour to Pakistan since 1989. The two teams played their last bilateral series in 2012 and India hosted Pakistan for a limited-overs series comprising two T20Is and three ODIs.

The 47-year-old Ganguly, is all set take charge as BCCI’s next president on 23 October. Ganguly’s fearlessness is appreciated by fans with high regard as a player, captain, and administrator. This is the very reason why fans do expect Ganguly to bring stability to Indian cricket and fulfil all their aspirations.
