Sourav Ganguly Cheers for Rishabh Pant’s IPL Return, Expresses Confidence and Excitement

The IPL 2024 is on the way. The tournament is set to commence in less than one month. Royal Challengers Bangalore is all set to lock horns with Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural match of IPL 2024. After being away from cricket for more than 1 year, Rishabh Pant is all set to lead Delhi Capitals. Ahead of IPL 2024, Sourav Ganguly talked about him.

Sourav Ganguly on Rishabh Pant:

Sourav Ganguly shared his thoughts on Thursday as Rishabh Pant joined Delhi Capitals for IPL 2024. Pant missed IPL 2023 due to injuries from a car accident on December 30, 2022. The return of the star wicketkeeper adds anticipation and excitement to the upcoming season, as expressed by the former India skipper.

The former Indian skipper emphasized that Rishabh Pant’s return is a significant uplift for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. Expressing great joy, he highlighted the value of Indian players in the IPL. Ganguly mentioned Pant’s absence from cricket for around 17-18 months, noting the player’s dedication to making a strong comeback.

He said, “I met him (Rishabh) in Bangalore recently for the inaugural game of WPL. He was there. He is getting ready and hopefully will play in IPL 2024. He looked very confident about playing in the IPL 2024 which begins on March 22. And that’s seriously good news for us in Delhi and India.”

Later he added, “It’s a huge boost for Delhi Capitals because Indian players are gold in the IPL. Obviously, he has not played much cricket and I hope he gets back to rhythm very quickly. It’s been a while he is away from competitive cricket, almost 17-18 months. He has worked very hard to make a comeback. He is confident and wants to play for Delhi Capitals and India. I am extremely happy he is back and hope he gets through the season.”

Delhi’s IPL 2024 Campaign:

Delhi Capitals will host their home matches at Vizag on March 31 and April 3, facing CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders. The Arun Jaitley Stadium won’t be available after hosting the Women’s Premier League final on March 17. Other fixtures until April 7 include a clash with Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on March 28 and a game against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on April 7. The shift to Vizag offers a temporary home, ensuring the team navigates its schedule seamlessly despite the stadium constraints in Delhi.
