In his absence, England’s Sam Curran has donned the captain’s hat admirably. “Shikhar was also injured last year,” Joshi said. “He was playing well, but Sam had to come up as captain because of his injury. Sam has come up as a leader yet again and he has stepped up with the team.”
The Kings will have their hands full in their upcoming encounter against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. This match, played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, marks the first time the venue will host an IPL game this season. Joshi expressed the team’s enthusiasm about playing in Dharamsala, praising the ground’s location and playing surface.
Winning Combination Likely to Remain Unchanged
Riding high on back-to-back victories, including a successful chase of the record-breaking 262-run target set by Kolkata Knight Riders, the Kings are unlikely to make any changes to their winning combination. “We don’t think we will be making any changes,” Joshi confirmed. “Because we want to keep up the winning squad.”
With the competition heating up and all teams vying for a coveted playoff spot, Joshi emphasized that the Punjab Kings are prioritizing performance over points table calculations. “Our approach is to put in the best effort and to play to win the game,” he said. “The table calculations will come on its own. We do not see that part very closely.”

Joshi highlighted the team’s focus on continuous improvement and a winning mentality. “Our plan of action is to keep winning,” he stated. “The challenge is always with the bat and ball. It’s a good surface. I keep telling players to hold their horses and execute their skills.”
