Shakib Al Hasan’s Heroics Secure Thrilling Victory of Bangladesh in a Dramatic Showdown, Earns Player of the Match

A dramatic showdown has been ended. It ended on a winning note for Bangladesh. From good partnership and valuable knocks to unfortunate dismissal, everything added a flavor to that fixture. It was a crucial match for both teams. Both fought hard with all their strength. But Bangladesh’s clinical performance with bat and ball sealed the win. They dominated and snatched the match from Sri Lanka. In the whole match, Bangladeshi Skipper Shakib Al Hasan Shines the brightest and becomes the player of the match.

Shakib’s Exceptional Innings:

Bangladesh was facing downtime in the past few fixtures. They were on the lower side of the points table. After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to field first. They used that decision in the best way. Bangladesh got its first wicket in the very first over. Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan was in great form. He took 2 wickets in 57 runs. His first wicket was Sri Lankan skipper Kusal Mendis. He picked Mendis when he was on 19 runs. Then he took another big wicket of Sadeera Samarawickrama. He got out on 41 runs.

While batting in the second innings, Bangladesh lost two early wickets. After that blow, Shakib and Shanto held the innings. Shakib played a pure captain’s knock. He scored a valuable 82 runs in 65 balls. He smashed 12 boundaries and 2 over-boundaries with a strike rate of 126.15. Angelo Mathews dismissed him and broke the valuable partnership.

Shakib’s Words:

After this incredible performance with both bat and ball, Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan was awarded Player of the Match. He said, “ They are two important players (Mendis and Samarawickrama), lucky to get those two wickets. There wasn’t much for the bowlers, we bowled really well up front. Spinners kept it tight. Both the spinners bowled really well Bowling wins us more matches, fast bowlers were bowling really well up to the World Cup. We couldn’t live up to our expectations but we knew that we could fight back, we had that mentality. We kept on believing and we kept on coming back and today it paid off. The ground dimension helped us as well, the shorter boundary, there was a lot of pace on the ball, so I just had to use the pace, luckily it came off, and from there on I never looked back. (Best performance came a little late?) I’d agree with that, we could have been consistent, that’s one disappointment.”
