Several changes in India’s squad for Australia series

Australia is set to tour India for 2 T20Is and 5 ODIs. It will be the last time that the Men in Blue play international cricket before the World Cup. India’s squad for the Australia series was announced today and it has lots of chopping and changing.

KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have been recalled to the ODI squad. On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik has been left out. Apart from Karthik, Khaleel Ahmed, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj have also been dropped. All these players were part of the squad on the New Zealand tour.

Jasprit Bumrah, after being rested for the limited overs leg in Australia and the tour of New Zealand, will return to the side. His pace partner – Bhuvneshwar Kumar, has been rested for the first 2 ODIs and will return for the last 3 in place of Siddharth Kaul.

As far as the T20I squad is concerned, Bhuvneshwar and Kuldeep Yadav have been rested. Khaleel Ahmed, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj have been axed. The leg-spinner Mayanak Markande, who plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, has earned his maiden call-up.
