Sam Curran wins hearts at the post match presentation after his comment on Arshdeep Singh

Sam Curran, the stand-in skipper of the Punjab Kings hailed Arshdeep for his brilliant performance in the death overs against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Sam Curran was awarded the man of the match for his all round effort. His whirlwind knock of 55 off 29 balls helped Punjab put a competitive total on the board. But Arshdeep gave just 2 runs in the last over while defending 16 runs against the likes of Tim David and Tilak Varma.

Sam Curran said that Arshdeep deserved the Player of the Match award instead of him. Curran said, “I don’t think I should be getting the Player of the Match considering how Arshdeep Singh closed down the game for us”.

What did Sam Curran say at the post-match presentation

Sam Curran | PBKS skipper and Player of the Match: Pretty special. What an amazing ground. The environment is incredible here. It’s (the win) is a massive positive for us. I don’t think I should be getting the Man of the Match considering how the boys closed the game out there. Without Shikhar, we know we had to take that responsibility. Our group is coming together really Well. Shikhar will be fit soon. We won 4 out of the 7 games and it is not a bad place to be. Have got great support from the management and the local guys. The boys are enjoying themselves, and it is still a long way to go and the important thing is enjoy the game and don’t put too much pressure on ourselves.

The final over drama

The final over was being bowled by Arshdeep, and the stress is palpable. As David only managed a single to deep cover and Tilak Varma was unable to score on the second ball, he began with a low full toss. The third ball saw Punjab Kings Arshdeep dismissing Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera entering as Impact’s replacement for Behrendorff left the pitch without having any impact thanks to Arshdeep’s magnificent yorker, which packed Wadhera out for a duck. With Arshdeep on a hat-trick, Mumbai needed two runs in 15 balls. Although the bowler fell short of a hat-trick, his outstanding four-wicket haul allowed his team to win the game.
