Sakib Hussain Credits Success to BCA President Rakesh Tiwari

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) celebrated their IPL 2024 victory with great enthusiasm, with fast bowler Sakib Hussain being a notable part of the celebrations. The young pace sensation from Bihar, picked by KKR at a base price of 20 lakhs, credited his success to the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) and its president, Mr. Rakesh Tiwari.

Hailing from Gopalganj, Bihar, Sakib Hussain expressed his gratitude towards BCA for supporting his cricket journey.

“First of all, I would like to thank Bihar Cricket that I reached here. It was the support of Rakesh Tiwari sir that helped me reach here. My stint with KKR was an enriching experience and it was a dream come true moment for me to share the dressing room with players like Mitchell Starc,” Sakib said.

IPL Experience and Future Prospects

Having shared the dressing room with renowned players during IPL 2024, Sakib believes his experience will enhance his performance in the upcoming domestic season for Bihar.

“My IPL experience will definitely help me in the upcoming domestic season. I’ve improved a lot in the last year, and that is all because of the Bihar Cricket Association. BCA has supported me at every step,” he added.

Sakib was full of praise for BCA president Rakesh Tiwari, acknowledging his pivotal role in his cricket career.

“If Rakesh Tiwari sir wouldn’t be there, I would have been playing gully cricket. He has helped me a lot and I want to repay the faith shown in me,” said the 19-year-old fast bowler.

Celebrating with KKR and Shah Rukh Khan

The KKR camp’s celebrations included Sakib lifting the IPL trophy with his family and clicking a picture with KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan. He described Shah Rukh Khan as humble and down-to-earth and shared his excitement about interacting with Mitchell Starc.

“Shah Rukh Khan sir is a very good man. He is very humble and I’ve never seen a down to earth person than him. I called Starc as my big bro. He saw my bowling action in the nets and praised me. Starc also asked fellow KKR players about my whereabouts and then he messaged me saying that he will help me in my cricket,” Sakib shared.

Sakib also appreciated KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir for his support and clear mindset, which aimed at winning every game for KKR.

“I’ve never seen a coach and mentor like Gautam Gambhir. He was very supportive. His mindset was clear as he wanted to win each and every game for KKR.”
