Sachin Tendulkar and Courtney Walsh to take part in Bushfire Cricket Bash

Sachin Tendulkar joins hand with Cricket Australia in the Bushfire Cricket Bash. The high-profile fund-raiser is to be played ahead of the Big Bash Final this year for the affected in the bushfire down under.

What’s the story?

On February 8, Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne will lead teams having legendary cricketers from Australia in the bushfire relief match. Justin Langer, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, Alex Blackwell and Michael Clarke will be seen playing the match while Steve Waugh and Mel Jones will be involved in a non-playing capacity.

The venue is yet to be announced. After the Big Bash Qualifier round the venue can be decided on January 31 as the winning team will be hosting the Big Bash Final. The fund-raiser will be at the same ground ahead of the finale. If Melbourne Stars make it to the final, the MCG will host the match which will be highly beneficial for the cause.

Cricket Australia committed to donate all profits from the tournament decider as well for the same cause.

Tendulkar and Walsh join the cause

Sachin Tendulkar and Courtney Walsh will be the coaches of Ponting XI and Warne XI respectively for the match. Cricket Australia knows that these signing will also work as great crowd puller and their CEO Kevin Roberts said, “We are absolutely honoured to be welcoming Sachin and Courtney back to Australia where they both enjoyed a lot of success as players, and we can’t wait to have them involved in what is going to be a special day.”

He further added that CA is looking forward to the match for the Aussie cricket fraternity coming together for the big cause.“Both in the ICC Hall of Fame, Sachin is the greatest run-scorer of all time in international cricket, and we all remember what Courtney could do with the ball, taking more than 500 Test wickets. We’re looking forward to our people at CA and the entire Australian cricket family coming together for the Big Appeal.”
