Smriti Mandhana Joins RCB:
Women’s Premier League has started its journey from March 2023. The tournament was started with five teams. In the WPL auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore secured Smriti Mandhana with a jaw-dropping price. After that, she led the team for the entire season.
The last year was not so memorable for the franchise and the captain herself. This time, they are looking forward to having a fresh start. Ahead of the tournament, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana joined the camp. The talented batter is ready to start the preparation for the upcoming season.
Previous Season’s Performance and Upcoming Challenges:
In the previous season, RCB Women’s team didn’t have the desired start. They lost the first five matches in a row. That was a huge setback for the franchise. They registered their first win against the UP Women’s team in the 6th match. RCB had a good team on paper but didn’t do well, winning only two matches out of eight. They ended up with four points and a negative Net Run Rate (-1.137).
In the upcoming season of the tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore will start their campaign against the UP Women’s team on February 24. The match will be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. All the matches of the tournament will be played in Bangalore and Delhi.
In the squad, Royal Challengers Bangalore has players like Ellyse Perry, Heather Knight, Richa Ghosh, Sophie Devine, Ket Cross, and many more. Team India’s young batting sensation Richa Ghosh is also a part of the squad. Skipper Smriti Mandhana is all set to conquer the field with this team in the upcoming WPL season.
