Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, reached a significant milestone by becoming the first batter to hit 600 sixes in international cricket. Prior to this match, he had amassed 597 sixes across 472 matches, including Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Entering the game against Ireland, he needed just three more sixes to achieve this remarkable feat. Rohit now stands alone as the only player with 600 sixes in international cricket.
The closest to Rohit’s record is Chris Gayle, who retired from international cricket in 2021 with 553 sixes. Shahid Afridi of Pakistan is the only other player to have surpassed 400 sixes in international cricket, with a total of 476.

As Team India met Ireland in their first game, they aimed to gave a positive start to their T20 World Cup 2024 journey. After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first. Since the beginning, the Indian bowlers dominated, and on the flip side Ireland kept struggling. Hardik Pandya’s spell was shocking. The vice-captain of the team set the stage on the fire by securing 3 wickets in 27 runs. Bumrah showcased his excellence again. He conceded only 6 runs and secured 2 wickets. While batting in the second innings, India showcased their dominance. While opening, Virat was only in 1 run in 5 balls. That was an early setback. But the other players took the game away from the opponent. Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten half-century and played an innings of 52 runs in 27 balls. Rishabh Pant was unbeaten on 36 runs in 26 balls and secured the win. They defeated Ireland by 8 wickets.Â
