Rajasthan Royals take a cheeky dig at Virat Kohli after his slowest IPL hundred

In a thrilling IPL 2024 match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday, Virat Kohli scored his eighth IPL century, but it was the joint-slowest century in the league’s history, taking 67 balls. Despite Kohli’s milestone, RCB faced their third consecutive loss of the season.

The match, held at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, saw RR set a target of 184 for RCB. In response, RCB put up a valiant effort, with captain Sanju Samson and opener Jos Buttler scoring fifties. However, RCB ultimately fell short, handing RR a victory.

Rajasthan’ Royals Tweeted

During the match, RR took to social media to drop a striking reaction, seemingly targeting Kohli for his slow century. The tweet read, “184 sounds good on a day when 200+ was possible,” highlighting the missed opportunity for RCB to set a higher total.

In a post-innings remark, Kohli explained that the lack of pace and bounce in the pitch, capitalized by the RR spinners, prevented him from playing his natural aggressive game. Despite his century, Kohli’s slow innings ultimately couldn’t secure a win for RCB.

The match highlighted RR’s strong performance, with their bowlers effectively containing the RCB batsmen. RR’s victory puts them in a strong position in the IPL 2024 standings, while RCB will be looking to bounce back from their three consecutive losses.
