Veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has praised Sanju Samson‘s captaincy qualities ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ashwin, who plays under Samson’s leadership at Rajasthan Royals, described him as a phenomenal captain.
Rajasthan Royals will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 24. Samson has been leading the Royals since the 2021 IPL season.
“I think Sanju is a phenomenal captain. The way he thinks about the game, the way he’s ahead of the game, is just phenomenal,” Ashwin said.
Ashwin also mentioned that Samson is very humorous off the field, adding to the positive atmosphere within the team. Samson’s leadership will be crucial for the Royals as they aim to start the season on a high note and secure a strong position in the tournament.
“Sanju is very funny off the field, and he keeps the atmosphere light in the dressing room,” Ashwin added.
