Purple Cap Holder of IPL 2023: Updated After SRH vs DC Match 34

In Match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Delhi Capitals by seven runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Delhi Capitals, led by David Warner, batted first but only managed to score 144 runs in their 20 overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad bowled exceptionally well, with Washington Sundar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar taking crucial wickets.

Mayank Agarwal provided a solid foundation for Sunrisers Hyderabad’s chase, but Delhi Capitals’ bowlers fought back strongly, making it challenging to score runs. In the end, Mukesh Kumar’s excellent bowling in the last over secured the win for Delhi Capitals. Despite the win, Delhi Capitals remain at the bottom of the Points Table, while Sunrisers Hyderabad are still in the 9th spot.

However, it is worth mentioning that tonight’s encounter between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals did not have any impact on the race for the Purple Cap. The Purple Cap has remained intact and has not seen any changes being inflicted. As of now, the Purple Cap is held by Mohammed Siraj of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Siraj has 13 wickets in 7 games with best figures of 4 for 21. His economy is also pretty impressive, at 7.17 runs per over.

Behind him, at number 2, is another rising Indian pacer, Arshdeep Singh. Leading Punjab Kings’ bowling unit this season, Arshdeep too has bagged wickets in 7 games. However, his economy is a little higher than that of Mohammed Siraj’s. Arshdeep has given away runs at an economy rate of 8.16 runs per over. His best figures of 4/29 came in his last outing against the Mumbai Indians where he broke 2 stumps in the final over.

At number 3, we have Yuzvendra Chahal with 12 wickets, at 4 we have Rashid Khan with the same number of wickets. At 5 we have an uncapped player, Tushar Deshpande, who also has 12 wickets in 7 games. Full list is given below:
