Purple Cap Holder of IPL 2023: Updated After LSG vs RCB Match 43

In a low-scoring game at the Ekana Sports City in Lucknow, RCB successfully defended a total of 126 runs to win the game by 18 runs. The game was filled with drama and controversy. However, not much has changed on the Purple Cap list

Siraj out of touch

Mohammed Siraj, who has been one of the most impressive pacers this season, seemed a little out of touch in tonight’s encounter. Even though he managed to get Kyle Mayers out for a 2nd ball duck in the first over, he did give away 24 runs in his 3 overs. In a low-scoring game, where every run mattered to RCB, Siraj giving runs away at an economy rate of 8 per over does not do justice to his skills.

Nonetheless, the wicket of Kyle Mayers has helped him move one spot ahead on the Purple Cap list. Siraj now has 15 scalps this season, making him the second-highest wicket-taker of the season so far. The top spot has been hoarded by Tushar Deshpande, who has 17 wickets in 9 games under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

Welcome back Ravi Bishnoi

Lucknow Super Giants’ young leg spinner has found himself back in the Purple Cap race after tonight’s encounter against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The slow pitch at the Ekana Sports City in Lucknow helped his cause as Bishnoi ended tonight’s match with figures of 2 for 21 in 4 overs. As of now, Bishnoi is placed at the 10th spot in the Purple Cap list, with 12 wickets in 9 games. He is LSG’s most successful bowler in the league so far.
