“Practice is normal” Mohit Sharma Reflects on Winning Player of the Match with Tactical Bowling Tactics

Cricket fans of Ahmedabad just experienced another thrilling fixture of IPL 2024. Gujarat Titans locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the 12th match of the league. In this match, the Titans displayed amazing dominance over the Sunrisers Hyderabad. But Amongst all, Mohit Sharma’s excellent bowling performance stole the show. After receiving the Player of the Match award he shared his thoughts.

Mohit Sharma, Player of the Match:

On the 12th match of the IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad on their home ground. On SRH, the Gujarat Titans made an amazing dominance. While bowling, Mohit Sharma stole the show. He picked up Abhishek Sharma on 29 runs. Then he dismissed Shahbaz Ahmed and Washington Sundar. He ended the innings with 3 wickets after conceding 25 runs with an economy rate of 6.25.

After this dazzling display, Mohit Sharma was awarded Player of the Match. He said, “Thank you sir for reminding me that I’m getting older day by day (chuckles). Practice is normal but the important thing is how to use the variation according to the game situation. Bowlers do have variations but it matters when and how to use it. It’s important when you have two balls in mind, the batters are also ready, they are ready for the slower bouncer but they are not ready for the slower short ball wide of the wicket so I mix and match.”

Dew is a factor. While talking about this, he said, “Dew is uncontrollable and we practice bowling with a wet ball. When it’s going good, I enjoy. When the match gets over, I like to reflect where I did well and where I didn’t. Rashid and Noor bowled well, we went for a few runs in the back end but we came back well in the final few overs.”

Second Win for GT:

After winning the first match, GT faced a setback when they lost the match against Chennai Super Kings. Before facing Sunrisers Hyderabad, they were charged up to secure the win. The Titans were in their top form. In the first innings, the bowlers dominated the opponent batters. They stopped the opponent on just 162 runs.

While batting in the second innings, the Gujarat Titans gave a decent start. Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed on 25 runs. Skipper Shubhman Gill scored 36 runs in 28 balls. Sai Sudharsan played an impactful knock of 45 runs. David Miller and Vijay Shankar secured the win. Gujarat Titans beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets.
