Pakistan Cricket Board Dissolves Its Selection Committee, New Members To Join In

In a shocking turn of events, the Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Zaka Ashraf came down on a crucial decision, dissolving its selection committee, firing several of its members. The significant decision came after Pakistan’s dismal conduct in the 2023 World Cup that led to the team’s disqualification for earning a place in the Top 4 and making it to the semifinals.

PCB’s Chief Selector Inzama-ul-Haq and bowling coach Morne Morkel had already resigned from the positions with PCB now looking for their replacements. Along with it, the senior and junior selection committees have also been sacked with a new selection committee also set to replace the earlier ones that will have the big task of selecting the national team for the upcoming Australia Tour. 

Main objective for Restructuring

With the formation of a new committee, the PCB aims to find young and promising talents in the country who can contribute effectively to the Pakistan cricket team and its vision. PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf has already initiated discussions with Pakistan’s senior cricketers and looked at the possibility of gaining insights from the experts in the field. These senior cricketers already have the needed experience and their opinions can largely influence the national cricket team’s selection. 

According to the reports, former cricketers like Shahid Afridi and Younis Khan will join the selection committee as they have the expertise needed to select the players according to one’s calibre. While Shahid Afridi is likely to become the selection committee head and Younis Khan as the batting coach. The remaining members of the committee are yet to be decided, with the Test Series in Australia very near.
