Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first. This led to Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans batting in the first innings.

GT scored a total of 231 runs, by losing merely 3 wickets while CSK was stopped during run chase at 196/8 runs. GT won the match by 35 runs and is currently positioned at the 8th spot on the points table while CSK holds the 4th spot.

Gaikwad disappointed with CSK’s fielding

Today’s match was fairly comfortable for the hosting team as their opening batsmen Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan scored centuries of their own. CSK’s batting unit on the other hand, has the highest individual score of 63 runs posed by Daryl Mitchell

Speaking about the loss, CSK’s new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad said that he was disappointed with the fielding. He thinks they gave away 10-15 extra runs, however that might not have changed anything, considering how they lost by 35 runs.

“Our fielding let us down, we gave away 10-15 runs extra I think, execution wise we were good, but they played some really good shots. You can’t control batters when they playing so well and going good. It’s real quick, we got to fly quick and we have a tough game in Chennai, so we got to turn up well there as well.” Said Gaikwad

Dhoni lives up to his “finisher” tag

While CSK didn’t win the match, their ex-captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni came to the field and scored 26 runs off of 11 balls. Out of these, he had hit three-sixes and one-four hence, 4 boundaries in 11 balls.

It is safe to say, that he might have taken his team to victory had he came out on the field earlier.
