Orange Cap Holder of IPL 2023: Updated After RCB vs LSG Match 15

Drama unfolded in the final over of the game as Lucknow Super Giants completed a thrilling victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore on the final ball of the game. RCB were confident of winning the game when they put on a total of 212 in the first innings. However, a collective effort from Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and young  Ayush Badoni saw LSG coming out on top on the final ball of the game. Chinnaswamy was a paradise for the batters as the game saw more than 400 runs being made. The same has been reflected in the Orange  Cap list as well.

The Kohli-Faf duo

As usual, the duo of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli was amazing at the top for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kohli scored 61 runs from 44 balls to set the tone of RCB’s innings. His opening partner and RCB’s captain Faf du Plessis started out a bit slow but once he got in the zone, he just smashed the ball to all parts of the ground. He remained unbeaten on 79 to take RCB’s total to 212 runs in 20 overs. Glenn Maxwell was also prolific with the bat as he smashed 59 runs off 29 balls.

Faf has now moved up to the 3rd spot with 175 runs in 3 games at a strike rate of 173.26. His star partner Kohli is just one spot below him with 164 runs in 3 games.

Stoinis and Poora work magic

Lucknow Super Giants lost three early wickets in their chase against RCB, but Marcus Stoinis scored a crucial fifty to bring them back into the contest. Nicholas Pooran played a remarkable inning of 62 runs from just 19 balls with seven sixes and four fours, setting the record for the fastest fifty of the season. Pooran has continued to impress with his form as a finisher and currently has the highest strike rate in all of the top 10 in the Purple Cap race. After today’s inning, Pooran now has 141 runs to his name in 4 games with a strike rate of 220.31. He is placed at the 7th spot, just one above his teammate Kyle Mayers.

Mayers had another disappointing outing today as he was bowled for a duck in the first over by Siraj. Kyle Mayers, who started the league as the second-highest run-scorer, has now slipped into the 8th spot with 139 runs in 4 games.
