After facing a defeat in the first game of the season, Lucknow Super Giants met Punjab Kings in their first home game. In this match, they registered their first win of this season. But before the match, LSG bought an interesting change. KL Rahul was named as an impact player whereas Nicholas Pooran led the team. As the captain, he led the team and registered a win by 21 runs.
After the win, Nicholas Pooran credited the entire team and the crowd. He said, “ Wonderful start, nice to win in front of the home crowd. We had conversations, spoke about getting good starts. Spoke about getting the right combinations. It was a good total. It’s a big venue, one side is big, one side short. It’s about getting wickets and getting boundaries. It’s only going to get challenging. Shikhar and Bairstow played well. They didn’t take the game away from us as we got wickets at the right time.”

In this match, youngster Mayank Yadav made his debut for LSG. With his incredible performance, he ended up being the Player of the match. In the beginning, Mayank Yadav Dismissed Jonny Bairstow. Then he picked up Jitesh Sharma. Lastly, he dismissed PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan on 70 runs. That was the game-changing points. This debut was worthy to cherish.
After winning the match, Pooran praised the youngster. He said, “Mayank’s was the story of the night.That was an inspiring performance, he (Mayank) is a young guy.
