Mumbai Ranji Trophy Players to Receive Doubled Earnings from Next Season

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced a significant increase in match fees for its Ranji Trophy players, starting from the next season. The decision will see players’ salary double, with the most experienced player set to earn INR 1.2 lakh per day.

Currently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pays INR 60,000 per day to players with more than 40 Ranji Trophy games, INR 50,000 for those with 21 to 40 games, and INR 40,000 for players with up to 20 games. Reserves receive INR 30,000, INR 25,000, and INR 20,000, respectively. With the MCA’s decision to double the match fee, senior Mumbai players could earn up to INR 6 lakh from a five-day Ranji game and up to INR 50 lakh in a season if the team reaches the final.

The MCA announced this initiative after an Apex Council meeting, where association president Amol Kale proposed the move. The decision reflects the MCA’s commitment to red-ball cricket, following its recent decision to match the prize money of INR 5 crore for the Ranji Trophy team, which secured its record-extending 42nd title.
