MS Dhoni Unimpressed by Camera Focus During CSK Innings, Threatens Cameraman with Water Bottle

MS Dhoni, the legendary former Indian captain and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stalwart, displayed a rare moment of displeasure during his team’s match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday night. The incident occurred at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, a venue where Dhoni enjoys immense fan adoration.

CSK Fans Love Dhoni, Cameramen Know It

The passionate Chennai crowd is known to erupt for three main reasons during the IPL: boundaries, wickets, and MS Dhoni.  Broadcasters have even introduced a “decibel meter” stat this season, revealing that the loudest roar so far came when Dhoni entered the ground for the toss during the IPL opener in Chennai. Cameramen, aware of this fan frenzy, often give glimpses of Dhoni in the dressing room during CSK matches, much to the crowd’s delight.

However, during a crucial partnership between CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube against LSG, Dhoni’s mood seemed to change.  As Gaikwad and Dube were building a match-defining 104-run stand, the cameraman zoomed in on Dhoni in the dressing room. This time, Dhoni reacted differently. Reports suggest he displayed displeasure and even made a threatening gesture with his water bottle before the camera refocused on the match.

Record-Breaking Partnership Fuels CSK Batting Dominance

Meanwhile, on the field, the batting fireworks continued. Gaikwad smashed an unbeaten century (108 off 60 balls), becoming the first CSK captain to achieve this feat in IPL history.  Dube complemented him brilliantly with a quickfire 66 off 22 balls. This dominant partnership powered CSK to a formidable total of 210 for 4.

Dhoni, perhaps responding to the crowd’s chants after the incident, did make a cameo appearance at the crease with just two balls remaining.  Gaikwad, showing respect to his mentor, handed him the strike for the final delivery. Dhoni, displaying his trademark calmness, guided the full toss from Marcus Stoinis for a four through deep mid-wicket, much to the crowd’s elation.

While CSK emerged victorious with a strong batting display, Dhoni’s reaction to the cameraman’s focus has sparked discussions.  Some fans believe Dhoni, known for his laser focus during matches, simply wanted the cameraman to concentrate on the ongoing partnership.  Others speculate that perhaps Dhoni, now retired from international cricket, might be adjusting to a reduced role within the team.
