Monank Patel Discusses USA’s Strategy and Commitment in T20WC Clash

It was Pakistan vs United States of America, the final match of the day. What a match it was! The most thrilling match till now in the 2024 T20I World Cup. Today we have seen the absolute brilliance of USA players as they create history by winning over Pakistan. After this historic win, the USA skipper was so proud of his team and expressed his happiness and mindset in post-match.

After a historic win against Pakistan, the USA boosted immense confidence for upcoming matches of the tournament. In the post-match, the USA skipper expressed his feelings about this historic win, the whole game, and their mindset.

USA captain Monank Patel said, “ Winning the toss and the way we bowled in the first 6 overs, we took wickets and kept them quiet. We knew they will take chances after their partnership. We knew we were in the game with 160 to chase, just needed a partnership. Playing in a World Cup, you don’t get a chance to do it every year. We were fully committed every single ball.”

After winning the toss, USA skipper Monank Patel decided to bowl first. USA’s bowlers delivered a strong performance in the match. Nosthush Kenjige bowled 4 overs, claiming 3 wickets while conceding 30 runs, with an economy rate of 7.5. Netravalkar also shone, taking 2 wickets in his 4 overs, and giving away 18 runs at an economy rate of 4.5. Ali Khan contributed with 1 wicket, conceding 30 runs in his 4 overs with an economy rate of 7.5. Jasdeep Singh took 1 wicket in his 3 overs, giving away 37 runs, resulting in an economy rate of 12.3. They restricted Pakistan to 159 runs.

Andries Gous contributed 35 runs off 26 balls, hitting 5 fours and 1 six, at a strike rate of 134.62. Skipper Monank Patel and Andries Gous built an important 2 runs partnership, which took the USA very close to victory.  Aaron Jones remained unbeaten with 36 runs off 26 balls, at a strike rate of 138.46, while Nitish Kumar remained not out with 14 runs from 14 balls.
