Mohammad Siraj talks about his illness before the match, manifestation to dismiss Wriddhiman Saha

In a crucial IPL 2024 encounter, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured a vital victory over Gujarat Titans, thanks in large part to a stellar performance from Mohammed Siraj. Siraj’s spell of 2 for 29 played a pivotal role in restricting the Titans to a modest total of 147. His early breakthroughs, including the key wicket of Wriddhiman Saha, set the tone for RCB’s bowling effort.

Mohammed Siraj’s bowling display in the IPL 2024 match against Gujarat Titans was nothing short of exceptional, showcasing his skill and impact as a bowler. Siraj’s early breakthroughs were crucial for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), as he dismissed Wriddhiman Saha early in the powerplay, setting the tone for the rest of the innings. Siraj’s ability to move the ball both ways troubled the Titans’ batsmen, and his tight line and length added pressure on the opposition. Siraj was declared as the player of the match for his match winning spell.

Mohammad Siraj at the post match presentation

During the post match presentation, Siraj said that he was ill in the morning and was unsure about his fitness ahead of the match.

“I was really ill for the last few days, thought I might not be able to play today but I really wanted to play so it was great that I was able to,” Siraj said.

Mohammad Siraj also told how he manifested the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha. He exactly envisioned the wicket of Saha as he dismissed him in the match.

Siraj also touched upon the challenges of switching between red and white ball cricket, noting the need for maximum effort with each delivery in the latter format.

“When I woke up, I manifested what I wanted to do and that’s exactly what happened,” Siraj added.

“Not easy to switch between red and white ball cricket. You need to give your 110% every ball here,” he concluded.

Chasing 148 for victory, RCB got off to a flying start with Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli leading the charge. Du Plessis, in particular, was in sublime form, smashing a quickfire 64 to put RCB in a commanding position. However, a middle-order collapse saw RCB lose six wickets for just 25 runs, briefly putting their victory in jeopardy.

Dinesh Karthik (21) and Swapnil Singh (15) then steadied the ship with a crucial partnership to guide RCB to a four-wicket win with 38 balls to spare. This win propels RCB from tenth to seventh in the IPL points table, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
