Mohammad Rizwan Appointed Vice-Captain for Pakistan’s T20I Team in New Zealand Tour

After the World Cup 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board has gone through a lot of changes. From board members to captains, everything is getting set in a new way. After Babar Azam stepped down from captaincy, Shan Masood took the responsibility of captaincy in the Test format. Shaheen Afridi was appointed as the captain of the whiteball format. The PCB took another progressive step. Mohammad Rizwan has been appointed as the vice-captain of the T20 format. 

Strategic Move by PCB:

After the World Cup 2023, the PCB is gearing up well ahead of the T20 World Cup. the tournament is scheduled to happen in June in the West Indies and the USA. before that, PCB is doing all the possible preparation. Ahead of the T20 World Cup, they made a strategic move. They appointed Mohammad Rizwan as the vice-captain of the T20 side. That change an play a crucial role in the upcoming tournament.

Mohammad Rizwan has been a responsible batter of the Pakistan team. This wicketkeeper-batter made his T20 debut for Pakistan in 2015. He played 85 T20 matches and scored 2797 matches. In the shortest format, he scored 25 half-centuries. He is also effortless in fielding. He took 41 catches in the T20 format. His experience will be beneficial for the team. 

Rizwan’s Expression and Schedule:

After being appointed as the vice-captain of the T20 team, Mohammad Rizwan shared his expressions. He said, “It is an honor to be named as the vice-captain of Pakistan Men’s T20I side. I am thankful to the PCB for entrusting me with this responsibility. I am looking forward to working closely with the captain, coaching staff, and my teammates to contribute to the team’s success.”

Pakistan is all set to face New Zealand in a five-match T20 series. The first match is scheduled to happen on January 14 at Eden Pak in Auckland. This series will be a rehearsal stage for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Rizwan is a pillar of Pakistan’s batting lineup. His inclusion as vice-captain will help the team in the upcoming big tournament.
