Misfiring Ben Stokes yet to shine for Chennai Super Kings

Ben Stokes is a dynamic all-rounder who provides a range of skills to his team in the T20s. He is a match-winner with both bat and ball and is known for his aggressive and fearless approach to the game.

Ben Stokes, the player of the match in the T20 World Cup Final, was purchased by Chennai Super Kings during the Indian Premier League 2023 mini-auctions for a staggering price of Rs 16.25 crore.

Stokes attracted interest from SunRisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants, who quickly raised the price to over Rs 10 crore. Late bidder Chennai Super Kings purchased the Stokes for Rs. 16.25 crore, which is tied for the third-highest price ever paid at an IPL auction.

With the bat, Stokes is a powerful hitter who is capable of scoring quick runs in any situation. He is equally comfortable playing both pace and spin bowling and has a wide range of shots in his arsenal, including the ability to clear the ropes with ease. He is also a reliable top-order batsman and has the ability to anchor innings if required.

Stokes unable to shine with the bat so far

However, during the 2 matches in the IPL, the English all-rounder is yet to shine with the bat. Stokes has scored 7(6) & 8(8) in the 2 innings. He got out against Avesh Khan in trying to score quick runs for the side.

With the ball, Ben Stokes is a valuable asset for any team. He is a medium-fast bowler who can generate significant pace and bounce, making him a difficult proposition for even the best batsmen. He is also a skillful and accurate bowler who can move the ball both ways and has a range of variations to keep the batsmen guessing. He is particularly effective in the death overs, where his ability to bowl yorkers and slower balls can be crucial.

However, he did not bowl in the first match. He did bowl in today’s match, but the results were not quite pleasing. He shared the new ball with Deepak Chahar and went for 18 runs in a single over. He did not bowl further in the match.
