Melbourne Renegades have secured the services of Jake Fraser-McGurk on a four-year contract in the Big Bash League (BBL). The 21-year-old has been in sensational form, smashing 257 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 158.64 in the ongoing BBL season, making him the seventh-leading run-scorer of the season.
Fraser-McGurk ended 2023 on a high note by hitting the fastest-ever one-day hundred from just 29 balls for the South Australian Redbacks in the Marsh Cup. His impressive performances have earned him a well-deserved new contract with the Renegades.
Expressing his excitement about the new deal, Fraser-McGurk stated, “I’m thrilled to re-sign with the Renegades, it was an easy decision for me, and to be part of the club’s future is really exciting. I’ve made some great mates here, I love being part of this playing group.”
With the departure of experienced players like Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh, Fraser-McGurk sees it as a changing of the guard and is eager to continue contributing to the team’s success. He also expressed his growth as a player, attributing it to the opportunities provided by the Renegades to express himself on the field.
Fraser-McGurk’s recent performances have earned him global recognition, as he is set to represent the Dubai Capitals in the upcoming International League T20 (ILT20). After fulfilling his commitments in the BBL, he will join the Capitals in the United Arab Emirates.
The Melbourne Renegades’ last league game in the BBL is scheduled against the Sydney Thunder on January 17, which will also mark the end of Shaun Marsh’s professional cricket career, as he announced his retirement from the sport after the final league game.
