A total of 204 players bought in the IPL 2022 auction over the weekend. 67 overseas players have been sold while 137 Indian players have found their new team in the Indian Premier League. 10 teams will take part in IPL 2022 making it the biggest edition ever. Among the sold players, 97 are uncapped while 107 are capped. A total of 551.7 crores have been spent for the purchases.
The cash-rich league saw 11 players touching 10 crore-mark. Ishan Kishan became the biggest buy of the auction as Mumbai were determined to get hold of the keeper-batter. Chennai Super Kings made the second most expensive buy as they bought Deepak Chahar. In the list the third name is also Indian as Kolkata secured the services of Shreyas Iyer making him a potential captain for the side. Liam Livingstone became the most expensive overseas player of the auction and Punjab Kings purchased him.
