“Lets stay on that path”: Virat Kohli motivates his RCB teammates

Following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) 7-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024 match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, Virat Kohli, the star batter, instilled belief in the RCB camp with motivating words. Despite the defeat, the franchise continued their tradition of awarding the team’s Player Of The Match, with Glenn Maxwell presenting the hamper to Kohli.

Kohli’s valiant knock of 83 runs stood out in the game. RCB’s defeat marked their second loss of the season as KKR dominated the high-octane clash. The loss dampened the spirit in the dressing room, as seen in a special video released by RCB on their social media handle.

Maxwell, in an attempt to lighten the mood, announced the award for Kohli. In a light-hearted moment, Kohli mentioned, “I always look forward to the hamper and think about it every night.”

Despite the setback, Kohli’s leadership and positive outlook are expected to motivate the team to bounce back stronger in the upcoming matches of IPL 2024.

“Thank you Max, I was really looking forward to this hamper. Every night I think about it,” Kohli said in a light-hearted manner.

His remark generated a good laugh in the dressing room, which looked upset after the loss. Kohli admitted that the team had a tough night and wanted the team to accept and move with the same belief and courage.

“But on a serious note, we had a tough night, we all know that. And we are much better than that so, as long as we accept it and move forward with the same courage and same belief in our skills. That’s all we can come up with. So lets stay on that path,” Kohli said in the RCB video.

Kohli’s performance against KKR

Kohli was the top performer for his side in the clash against KKR. The star batter notched up his 52nd IPL fifty and 2nd consecutive half-century in the tournament. The batter took on the likes of Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine and remained unbeaten at 83 from 57 deliveries to take his team’s total to 183 runs.

However, the KKR openers, Phil Salt and Sunil Narine scored 85 runs within the power play itself, the most runs scored within the first 6 overs this season. The RCB couldn’t contain the scoring rate as KKR raced away with the match and chased down the target with 19 balls to spare.
