Virat Kohli was an unhappy captain after the loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The match had many ebbs and flows but Kolkata was in control of the match for most of the period. Virat Kohli felt that they did too many mistakes in the match and handed the match to Kolkata.

Kohli said

“To be honest we handed them the game. We did deserve to lose. We handed them a victory. We were certainly not up to standard.”

Kolkata skipper Nitish Rana was dropped twice in the match by Siraj and Vyshak which cost them the match.

” If you look at the game, we didn’t capitalize our chances. We dropped a few chances which cost us 25-30 runs,” Kohli added.

Kohli said that they were in control of the chase but lost wickets to the balls that weren’t wicket-taking.

“We set up ourselves really well. We ended up hitting the fielder to balls which weren’t wicket taking. We needed one partnership to get us home. We need to be switched on and not give away soft plays” Kohli concluded.

Lomror and Kohli himself lost wickets on the balls that were meant to be hit for sixes. Suyash Prabhudesai also was involved in an unnecessary runout.

The four-match losing trend for Kolkata Knight Riders is broken thanks to a strong overall performance. With 201 to chase, Royal Challengers Bangalore started off well, scoring 30 runs in the opening two overs. Suyash Sharma, a 19-year-old leg-spinner, gave the critical breakthrough in his very first over by dismissing Faf du Plessis, the player with the most runs scored in this IPL, after Nitish Rana promptly switched to spin. In his subsequent over, he trapped Shahbaz Ahmed, and Chakaravarthy dismissed Maxwell in the final over of the powerplay.

For the first time this season, RCB lost three wickets in the space of six overs, along with two of their top batsmen. As Kohli and Lomror formed a half-ton partnership, Lomror, who had a quiet tournament thus far, assumed the role of the aggressor. In a span of five deliveries, KKR managed to get rid of both of the set hitters. Lomror was bowled out by a short delivery, and Venkatesh Iyer made an outstanding catch to end Kohli’s innings. After that, the visitors continued to contribute by taking wickets and never let RCB get back into the game.

Jason Roy’s quick fifty, which included four fours and five sixes in his 56 runs off 29 balls, helped KKR reach 200/5 in 20 overs. For the visitors, Nitish Rana (48), Rinku Singh (18*), and David Wiese (12*) all contributed fast strikes. Wanindu Hasaranga and Vyshak Vijay Kumar both claimed two wickets for the RCB bowling unit, and Mohammed Siraj claimed a dismissal.
