KL Rahul walks in to bat despite getting injured

KL Rahul came in to bat at number 11 despite getting injured in the field. In the second over between LSG and RCB, Lucknow skipper KL Rahul was injured. KL was down and holding his right leg. It was a length delivery outside off, du Plessis drives wide of cover and KL gave it a good chase before pulling up before the boundary cushions. He was grimacing as a couple of teammates came towards him to check.

All of the support staff and the players on the field had a worried look on their faces as they could sense that the injury could be bad. A stretcher was also brought to take the skipper. However, limped off the ground with a worried look on his face. In his absence, Krunal Pandya is leading the side.

The extent of KL’s injury is yet unknown. But by looking at the visuals, he could miss some portion of the IPL and maybe the final of the World Test Championship too. His Lucknow teammate Jaydev Unadkat was also injured in the Lucknow Super Giants nets while bowling. He slipped and was seen in extreme pain.

With the match almost done and dusted, there was no need for KL to come into bat. Considering the World Test Championship Finals in mind within a month’s time only will tell whether to call this as an act of bravery or foolishness.

The LSG batter might need time to recover from his recurring hamstring injury. Rahul’s ambitions of competing in the 2023 WTC final have been severely dashed by his significant injury concerns in 2022. However, Jaydev Unadkat was also hurt in a strange incident that occurred during the net session, so it wasn’t the only accident involving Lucknow.

RCB had just 126 to defend, but they made it look like they had plenty of runs on the board. They humiliated the Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs.
