KL Rahul Makes History: Becomes the Second Indian to Hit 1000 ODI Runs as Wicketkeeper-Batter

KL Rahul’s supremacy again. The Indian southpaw made another exciting record in the third ODI against South Africa. After Ending the World Cup, India traveled to South Africa for a long series. Both nations are facing each other in an ODI series. In the last match of the series, Skipper KL Rahul became the first Indian wicketkeeper batter to score 1000 runs in a calendar year in an ODI after 14 years. 

KL Rahul’s Excellence again:

After a long injury, KL Rahul returned to international cricket in the Asia Cup. After that, he is in great form. In the Asia Cup, he made a century against Pakistan. Throughout the World Cup, he performed exceptionally well. He was criticized for his slow innings in the World Cup final. But in the whole tournament, he was consistent with the bat. As a wicketkeeper, he performed outstandingly. 

After the World Cup, Rohit Sharma is not playing the white ball format. KL Rahul leads the team in the One Day Format in his absence. In this series, he achieved a new milestone in his career. KL Rahul has become the first Indian wicketkeeper batter to score 1000 runs in a calendar year in ODIs after 14 long years. This was achieved by MS Dhoni a long time ago. Rahul crossed the milestone as the second Indian. 

KL Rahul is leading the team from the front. In the first ODI, South Africa got all out in 116 runs while batting first. In the second match, it was hard luck for team India. South Africa won the match and leveled up the series. In that pressure situation, skipper KL Rahul played an excellent knock. He scored 56 runs in 64 balls. That knock helped India to put a fighting total on the board. In the third ODI, he got dismissed quickly. In 35 balls, he scored 21 runs and walked away.

Match Tour:

The last ODI match of the series is going on at Boland Park in South Africa. It is a do-or-die match for both franchises. The series is standing on 1-1. India won the first match and South Africa won the second one. The third match will decide the winner of the series. After winning the toss, South Africa decided to bowl first. India gave a decent Start. Rajat Patidar made his ODI debut. He scored 22 runs in 16 balls with 3 boundaries and 1 over-boundary. Sai Sudharsan got out quickly by scoring 10 runs.

Skipper KL Rahul scored 21 runs in 35 balls and walked away. Sanju Samson came back to the squad after a long. He is doing well. He completed his half-century and batting on 63 runs in 88 balls. On the other hand, youngster Tilak Verma is batting on 30 runs in 55 balls. In the 36th over, India is 160/3.
