The Bowling Onslaught:
Mitchell Starc, who was later named Man of the Match, set the tone from the very first over. Starc bowled a peach of a delivery to uproot Abhishek Sharma’s off-stump, a ball that started from leg-stump and nipped away sharply to hit the top of the off. This early breakthrough shook SRH, who never managed to regain their footing throughout the innings.

Starc’s impressive figures of 2/14 were complemented by Andre Russell’s 3/19 and Harshit Rana’s 2/24. The KKR bowlers exploited the pitch conditions perfectly, with the ball swinging early on and gripping off the surface as the innings progressed. Five of the six bowlers used by KKR took a wicket in their first over, including Vaibhav Arora, who dismissed SRH’s key batsman Travis Head for a golden duck in the second over.

SRH’s Batting Collapse:
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, SRH’s top order crumbled under pressure. After the early blow from Starc, Rahul Tripathi (8) was soon back in the pavilion, followed by a procession of wickets that left SRH reeling at 21/3 within the powerplay. Captain Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen attempted to stabilize the innings but were dismissed for 15 and 10 runs respectively.

Nitish Reddy and Abdul Samad managed brief resistance, scoring 13 and 19 respectively, but SRH’s innings never gained any momentum. The continuous fall of wickets ensured that SRH could not build any substantial partnerships, and they were eventually all out for 113 in 19.2 overs.

KKR’s Clinical Chase:
Chasing a modest target of 114, KKR started confidently with openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer taking charge. Gurbaz played a steady innings, scoring 39 before being dismissed. Venkatesh Iyer, however, was the star of the chase, blasting an unbeaten 52 off just 26 balls. His aggressive approach ensured that KKR chased down the target in just 10.3 overs, winning with 57 balls to spare.

The emphatic victory not only highlighted KKR’s dominance but also marked their third IPL title, adding to their previous wins in 2012 and 2014. The strategic brilliance and execution from KKR’s bowlers were the standout features of the match, leaving SRH with no answers.
