KKR Bowler dealt with a huge blow post his match winning spell against SRH

Kolkata Knight Riders‘ bowler, Harshit Rana, has been fined a total of 60 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on March 23.

Rana was found guilty of committing two Level 1 offences under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He was fined 10 percent and 50 percent of his match fees for the two respective offences. Rana admitted to the offences and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.

The send-off which proved to be difficult

The incident occurred when Rana celebrated aggressively after dismissing Mayank Agarwal, blowing a flying kiss in his face during the sixth over of the game. Agarwal, who scored 32 runs, was caught by Rinku Singh off Rana’s bowling. Rana’s actions drew criticism, with even Sunil Gavaskar commenting that such behavior was unnecessary.

In the match, KKR posted a total of 208 runs, largely thanks to Andre Russell‘s heroics (64 off 25) and Phil Salt‘s contribution of 54 runs at the top of the order. Despite Heinrich Klaasen‘s impressive efforts (63 off 29), SRH fell short by four runs. Starc’s 19th over proved to be expensive, but Rana maintained his composure to bowl a stunning final over, securing the win for KKR.
