In the 13th match of the IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals locked horns at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. After winning two consecutive matches, Chennai Super Kings faced Delhi Capitals who lost the previous two games. But the Delhi Capitals bowlers showcased an amazing display in the match. Khalil Ahmed was the star of the show. After the match, he shared his view on his exceptional performance.
Khalil’s Outstanding Performance:
After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals opted to bat first. After showing some dazzling batting display, the DC bowlers stole the show. The opponent batter was in the back in front of the DC bowlers. Khalil Ahmed came to bowl the first over, in the last ball of the over, he picked up Ruturaj Gaikwad on just 1 run. That was the first success of the team.
Then Khalil came back to bowl in the third over. In the 5th ball of the over, he dismissed Rachin Ravindra. That was a huge wicket for the team. Rachin walked away scoring only 2 runs. After those crucial wickets, Khalil Ahmed was awarded the Player of the Match. After that, he shared his thoughts. He said, “I was waiting for a long time to perform for the team. When I started, I realised I was getting good swing, so I just backed it up and didn’t allow the opposition any chance. The more you play, the more you understand your game. The same happened with me as I have been playing continuously for six months, I got to understand my game plans, my body and managing to play in small niggles. It all came due to the domestic season, it gave me good confidence before coming into the IPL and it’s been a great feeling.”
Reflecting on DC’s First Win:
Last year, DC’s performance was not great. They struggled with their form. After missing the entire season of IPL 2023, Rishabh Pant came back and led the team. But the 2024 season didn’t start in a great way for them. They lost two back-to-back matches. But against Chennai Super Kings, they crossed those obstacles and registered the first win of the season.
While talking about this, Khalil said, “When you lose back-to-back matches, you feel bad. To be honest, there’s a lot of happiness due to this win. When you win, it gives you good momentum, the win makes you understand the good aspects of your game and how you can learn. This win gave us a lot of answers to our questions, and it will make things easier on how to approach our next games.”
