“Karn ‘Brian Lara’ Sharma…”: RCB coach Andy Flower showers praise on Karn Sharma

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) coach Andy Flower, in an attempt to lift the spirits of his team following a heart-wrenching one-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, emphasized the need to stay positive and focused on the upcoming challenges. Flower’s efforts came after RCB’s loss left them at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table, with just one win in eight matches.

In pursuit of 223 runs to win, RCB fought bravely, with Will Jacks (55 off 32 balls) and Rajat Patidar (52 off 23 balls) scoring crucial half-centuries. Despite a flurry of wickets, Dinesh Karthik (25 off 18 balls) and Karn Sharma (20 off 7) kept RCB in the game, needing three runs off the last ball to win. However, Lockie Ferguson (1) was run out trying to secure a second run, ending RCB’s innings at 221 all out.

After the match, Flower gathered the team, urging them to focus on the positives and prepare for their upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 25.

“As a team, as a group we go again tomorrow. There’s no hiding place”. Coach Andy Flower tried his best to lift the gloom over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) camp after their heatbreaking one-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL on Sunday, which kept them at rock-bottom of the 10-team table with just one win in eight matches.

Flower praises Karn Sharma

He singled out Karn Sharma for praise, highlighting his crucial cameo towards the end of the innings. Flower also commended Lockie Ferguson for his resilience after an expensive over in the Powerplay, which ultimately contributed to the team’s fighting spirit.

“Karn ‘Brian Lara’ Sharma, that was a great fight at the end, you know the game had almost gone and he got us this close, really nice to see”.

As RCB looks to bounce back from their disappointing loss, Flower’s words are likely to serve as motivation for the team as they strive to turn their fortunes around in the remainder of the IPL season.
