Kane Williamson Gets massive round of applause on his 100th Test

Kane Williamson and Tim Southee celebrated their 100th Test match for New Zealand, walking out onto the pitch with their children ahead of the first session against Australia. Williamson, the all-time leading run-scorer for New Zealand in Tests, received a standing ovation from the Hagley Oval crowd. However, his celebration was short-lived as Josh Hazlewood dismissed him cheaply for 17 runs.

Hazlewood was in excellent form, taking a total of five wickets in the innings, including key dismissals like Tom Latham (38), Rachin Ravindra (4), Daryl Mitchell (4), and Matt Henry (29). Southee, on the other hand, showed good form with the bat, contributing to a 56-run partnership with Henry for the ninth wicket, the highest of the innings.

Despite Williamson’s early dismissal, he has had an illustrious Test career, scoring 8692 runs in 100 matches, including 32 centuries and six double centuries. Southee, who made his Test debut in 2008, has taken 378 wickets in his 100 Test matches.

The ongoing Test series between New Zealand and Australia has been closely contested, with both teams looking to gain the upper hand. With players like Williamson and Hazlewood in action, the series promises to be an exciting one for cricket fans.
