After winning the toss, South Africa opted to bowl first. They set the stage on fire. They gave a dominating start and kept the pressure alive on the opponent. They lost their first wicket in the third delivery of the very first over. Marco Jansen got the first breakthrough while dismissing Michael Levitt. 

After that, Ottniel Baartman dismissed Max O’Dowd in 2 runs. Marco Jansen and Ottoniel Baartman didn’t let the opponent batters to play any impactful innings. Baartman secured 4 crucial wickets in 11 runs in four overs with an impressive strike rate of 2.75. On the other hand, Marco Jansen secured 2 wickets by conceding 20 runs. They stopped the Netherlands in 103 runs in 20 overs. 

Nortje’s Brilliance:

Among all those bowling brilliance, Anrich Nortje also shined bright with his commendable bowling performance. He secured 2 wickets while conceding 19 runs in the allotted 4 overs. Along with that, he has become the second bowler to secure the Most consecutive innings in T20 WCs with at least one wicket. In 12 matches, he secured 26 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 4.99.

After the first innings, Nortje talked about this. While praising the other bowlers, Nortje said, “He (Jansen) has been bowling well in both the games. He got a wicket off the no ball unfortunately. I think we did a good job by restricting them to 100-odd. Baartman was excellent towards the end. We have been good in the field in the two games, the boys have been working well, hopefully we continue doing that.”

In recent times, a lot of talks was going over the South African bowler, while addressing this, he said, “It’s great to have a team that’s backing you. There have been a lot of talks in the media, it’s great to have the coaches back me. Special to perform for the team. It’s fun to be a part of (of this group), we have been playing along for a few years, we have all bases covered. Really hope we go all the way this year.”
