“It was a very special moment” Shoaib Bashir Reflects on the Special Moment of Dismissing Rohit Sharma

On February 2, Team India met England for the first Test match in Vizag. A few players from both teams debuted in the second Test match. Rajat Patidar made his debut for Infia. On the other hand, English youngster Shoaib Bashir made his Test debut for England. In the debut match, he dismissed Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. After that, he shared his feelings.

Big Wicket for Bashir:

India lost the first Test match by 28 runs. Before heading to the second Test match, they were hungry to register the first win in this series. In the second Test match, India batted first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma opened the innings. In the 18th over, Shosib Bashir came to bowl and a big wicket awaited him.

On the third delivery, the ball pitched outside the off stump and spun in sharply. The Indian captain was surprised by that. It ended up edging towards backward square. Ollie Pope didn’t miss the chance and grabbed it successfully. It was a great moment for Bashir. Rohit Sharma became his maiden Test wicket.

Shoaib Bashir’s Words:

After dismissing the Indian skipper, Shoaib Bashir talked about his feelings. He said, “If you were to tell me that two years ago, I would laugh. It was a very special moment receiving my Test cap and for me to get Rohit Sharma as my first wicket was very, very special.”

Later he added, “He’s a great player of spin as well. I’m just so grateful to God and my family. They’ve supported me through thick and thin. I had a lot of ups and downs in my journey, so I just want to thank them as well.

India, after winning the toss, opted to bat first. Opening with Rohit and Yashavi Jaiswal, the new additions included Rajat Paitdar and Mukesh Kumar. Despite Rohit’s early dismissal, Jaiswal played a crucial role, scoring an impressive unbeaten 179. Shubman Gill got dismissed on 34 runs. Debutant Rajat Patidar scored 32 runs. Team India ended the first day at 336-6.
