“It Was a Bit Of Dogfight”, Remarks Temba Bavuma During The Post Match Presentation After South African Loss Against Australia in World Cup Semifinal

In the second semi-final match of the 2023 World Cup, 5-time World Cup champions emerged victorious against South Africa at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, the city of joy. After winning the toss, the Proteas opted to bat first and posted a target of 213 runs, the South African side was already 4 wickets down at 24 runs. The second innings started with a banger with the Aussies successfully managing to chase the target.

The Men in Yellow got defeated in the first two matches of the 2023 World Cup but as the game went forward, they registered consecutive wins and today they outclassed South Africa, in the first 15 overs initially. Despite Australia winning the semi finals, the South African side rose up everyone’s expectations and made Australia struggle till the 47th over. 

Temba Bavuma’s statement after the loss

In the ongoing tournament, South African skipper Temba Bavuma only managed to score a low of 145 runs in a total of 10 innings he played. Today, after a heart wrenching loss, Temba Bavuma in the post match presentation congratulated Australia for the big win and said that their side is rather disappointed with the loss. 

With Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc eking out the final runs for the Aussies to lead the team into the finals for the 9th time in the history of Australia’s World Cup campaign. After the defeat, Bavuma remarked “It was a bit of a dogfight. Looking at the result of the game, the way we started with the bat and the ball was probably the turning point and where we lost it quite badly.”

Australia and India will now lock horns against each other in the most anticipated match of the 2023 World Cup, the finals. The big event is scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and will see a closing ceremony with several personalities performing in the event.
