“ It is the captain’s job to apply pressure, a pacer is bowling and there is no slip? Former Pakistan Skipper Slams at Babar Azam for Back-to-back Losses

The World Cup 2023 is going on with all its glory. The excitement is going up with each match. All teams are giving their best. Pakistan is having hard luck in this tournament. They are losing back-to-back matches. Although they have a very balanced side. But in pressured situations, they are not performing well. They are giving up so fast. They started the campaign with a win but after winning a few matches, they lost their form. Former Shahid Afridi talked about the situation.

Pakistan’s position in the World Cup:

Pakistan won their first match against the Netherlands. They registered a dominating win of 81 runs against the opponent. In the next match, they met Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka dominated Pakistan in the first innings and put a total of 344 runs on the board. While batting in the second innings, Pakistan made a great comeback. They dominated the Sri Lankan bowlers and successfully chased the run. They hammered Sri Lanka with a 6-wicket win.

In the next match, Pakistan met India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. They faced a huge 7-wicket win against India. Indian bowlers dominated the opponent bowlers. That was a setback for him. In the next match, they faced another defeat. In that match, they faced Australia. Australian bowler didn’t let the Pakistan batters dominate the game. Australia hammered a 62-run win against Pakistan.

Shahid Afridi’s Word:

The Men in Green are having a tough time. They are still trying to find their desired win in this tournament. They are doing their best to find success. They won the first two matches in the World Cup and then lost consecutive three games. It is disappointing for the team and the fans. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi talked about the losses. He said, “ Captaining your national side is a matter of honor but it is not a bed of roses. When you do good, everyone praises you and when you don’t, everyone blames you as well as the head coach.”

He also takes a dig at the captain. He said, “ It is the captain’s job to apply pressure, a pacer is bowling and there is no slip? Four are required on 12 balls and you have taken a backward point? Apply pressure. What do the Australians do? They take one to two wickets and then pull all of the players in the circle to apply pressure like they did against Pakistan.”
