IPL 2024 Purple Cap: Updated After Lucknow Super Giants vs. Punjab Kings Match No. 11

Finally, Lucknow Super Giants experienced the first win of the season. On the 11th match of the league, Lucknow Super Giants met Punjab Kings on home ground. They experienced their first win in their first home game. After struggling in the first half of the second innings, they changed the game with their bowling excellence. Those performances impacted the Purple Cap.

While winning the toss, LSG opted to bat first. While bowling first, PBKS gave an amazing start. Arshdeep Singh got the first wicket for his team while dismissing KL Rahul. In the 6th over, Sam Curran dismissed Devdutt Padikkal on 9 runs. Those early setbacks impacted LSG’s innings. But the brilliance of Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, and Krunal Pandya gave tough competition to the opponent bowlers. 

Arshdeep Singh picked up the big wicket of de Kock. Kagiso Rabada bowled a brilliant delivery to dismiss Nicholas Pooran on a crucial moment. Curran ended up with 3 wickets in 28 runs. Rabada and Rahul Chahar ended up with 1 wicket each. 

LSG’s Bowling Brilliance:

At the start of the second innings, Lucknow Super Giants was struggling. Till the 12th over, they could not get any wickets. But the scenario changed when debutant Mayank Yadav dismissed Jonny Bairstow. After that, he picked up two wickets of Prabhsimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma. The debutant ended up taking 3 wickets in 27 runs.

Mohsin Khan did the rest of the job. He took two crucial wickets of Sam Curran and Shikhar Dhawan. Those wickets change the game. Lucknow Super Giants registered their first win of the season by 21 runs.
