IPL 2024 Purple Cap: Updated After Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals Match No. 16

The IPL 2024’s 16th match is ablaze with action as Kolkata Knight Riders face off against Delhi Capitals at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakapatnam. KKR’s batsmen have been on fire with explosive innings, while DC’s bowling, though valiant, falls short of matching the fiery pace set by their opponents. The KKR bowlers took the game to the next level with their bowling excellence which impacted the Purple Cap table.

After winning the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders opted to bat first. While bowling first, initially, Delhi Capitals bowlers struggled. After picking up Phill Salt in 18 runs, they had to wait long for the second success. In between this, they conceded too many runs. In the 13th over, Mitchell Marsh stopped Sunil Narine’s brilliance in 85 runs. In the next over, Anrich Nortje dismissed Angkrish Raghuvanshi on 54 runs. 

After that, Andre Russell started hitting hard, and Ishant Sharma dismissed him on 41 runs. After that, Khaleel Ahmed sent Shreyas Iyer in the 18th over. Then Rinku Singh was smashing bigs. Anrich Nortje stopped him in 26 runs. KKR ended their innings in 272/7. 

KKR’s Excellence in Bowling:

After creating a storm, while batting, they continued their excellence in the bowling. The bowlers created magic and dominated the opponent batters. Vaibhav Arora started the magic. He ended up taking 3 wickets in 27 runs with an economy rate of 6.75.

Varun Chakravarty was another stunner. He took 3 wickets in 33 runs with an economy rate of 8.25. Mitchell Starc finally got the desired success. He took 2 wickets in 25 runs with an economy rate of 8.33. Andre Russell and Sunil Narine ended up taking one wicket each. They hammered Delhi Capitals with a 106-run win.
