Another day of IPL 2024 passed with another thrilling match. The 17th match of the tournament was scheduled between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings. In that match, the Titans bowlers troubled the Punjab Kings batters from the beginning. On the other hand, Punjab Kings bowlers remained non-dominating since the beginning. Their performance brings some notable changes to the Purple Cap table.
Punjab Kings Average Bowling:
During their bowling stint, the Punjab Kings displayed a mixed performance, with their bowling deemed average. Kagiso Rabada made an impact early on, claiming the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha in the third over, who had scored 11 runs. Following this breakthrough, Harpreet Brar succeeded in dismissing Kane Williamson. The highlight of the innings was Harshal Patel’s sensational delivery, which saw Sai Sudharsan, who had amassed 33 runs, walking back to the pavilion. Rabada later added another scalp, Vijay Shankar, who managed just 8 runs before departing. However, apart from these key dismissals, no other bowler managed to secure a wicket.
GT’s Hardest Try But Hard Luck Again:
While bowling in the second innings, Gujarat Titans showcased their bowling brilliance. Umesh Yadav dismissed Shikhar Dhawan. Another success came when Noor Ahmed dismissed Jonny Bairstow. After that, he dismissed Prabhsimran Singh. Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed Sam Curran on 5 runs.
Mohit Sharma played brilliantly well. In the very first ball of him in this match, he dismissed Sikandar Raza. Rashid Khan dismissed Jitesh Sharma and Darshan Nalkande dismissed Ashutosh Sharma. But it was a hard-luck again and lost the match by 3 wickets.
