IPL 2024 Purple Cap: Updated after Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans Match No. 7

After winning the toss, Gujarat Titans opted to bowl first. But the bowlers struggled in the first innings. Till the sixth over, they failed to earn any success. In the 6th over, Rashid Khan dismissed Rachin Ravindra in 46 runs. After that, Sai Kishore sent off Ajiyanka Rahane. Spencer Johnson got the big wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad on a crucial point. 

After that, the bowlers struggled to stop Shivan Dube. Finally, in the 19th over, Rashid Khan dismissed Shivam Dube on 51 runs. In the last over, Sameer Rizvi and Ravindra Jadeja were dismissed. But CSK scored 206/6.

The target was tough to chase down. GT skipper Shubman Gill walked away after 8 scoring runs in an LBW by Deepak Chahar. After that, Deepak Chahardismissed Wriddhiman Saha too. In today’s match, Pathirana was named in the playing XI and utilized the chance. He bowled an excellent delivery to Sai Sudharsan and dismissed him in an important situation. Tushar Deshpande ended up taking two wickets in 21 runs. Mustafizur Rahman took 2 wickets in 30 runs. Daryl Mitchell and Pathirana got one each.
