IPL 2024 Points Table: Updated After RCB vs LSG Match 15

The Lucknow Super Giants delivered a clinical performance against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, securing a convincing 28-run victory and a significant jump in the IPL 2024 points table. With this win, Lucknow climbs to the fourth position, showcasing their well-rounded display in all three aspects of the game.

Quinton de Kock, Mayank Yadav Star in Lucknow’s Victory

Openers Quinton de Kock (81 runs) and KL Rahul provided a solid foundation for Lucknow’s batting effort.  Despite a mid-innings wobble, a crucial partnership between de Kock and Marcus Stoinis (42 runs) steadied the ship.  A late flourish from Nicholas Pooran (40* runs), who capitalised on a dropped catch in the 17th over, propelled Lucknow to a competitive total of 181 runs.

Mayank Yadav emerged as the hero with the ball for Lucknow, showcasing his raw pace.  Clocking speeds in excess of 150 kmph, Yadav scalped three crucial wickets, including the big-hitters Glenn Maxwell (0 runs) and Cameron Green (12 runs), effectively derailing the RCB chase.  Along with the back-of-the-hand slower balls from Reece Topley and Yash Dayal, Lucknow’s bowling attack effectively stifled the RCB batsmen.

RCB’s batting woes continued as they succumbed to another defeat.  Early dismissals of Virat Kohli (5 runs) and Faf du Plessis (17 runs) left them reeling at 58/4 within the first eight overs.  While Suyash Prabhudessai (33 runs) and Rajat Patidar (22 runs) offered some resistance, their efforts were not enough to chase down the target.

Points Table Update: Top and Bottom

This win sees Lucknow Super Giants climb four spots in the points table, now sitting comfortably in fourth place with four points from three matches.  RCB, on the other hand, languish near the bottom, occupying the ninth position with just two points from four matches.  The top spot remains with the Rajasthan Royals, who are yet to lose a game this season.
