IPL 2024 Points Table: Updated After Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals Match No. 32

Cricket enthusiasts have experienced a thrilling encounter between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals in an intense fixture at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In that match, Delhi Capitals showed their outstanding character in both bat and ball. On the other side, the Gujarat Titans kept struggling. Delhi hammered Gujarat with a 6-wicket win and that has brought a change in the points table. 

Gujarat Titans’ Disappointing Batting Display:

Gujarat Titans played good cricket in the tournament till now under their new captain Shubman Gill. But against Delhi Capitals, they registered their one of the most disappointing performances. While batting first, the Gujarat Titans struggled to form substantial partnerships. Delhi Capitals’ strong bowling attack made it challenging for the Titans’ batters to gain momentum. The opening duo faced early dismissals, with captain Shubman Gill out for just 8 runs and Wriddhiman Saha departing with only 2 runs.

Sai Sudharsan contributed 12 runs in 9 balls, while Rahul Tewatia managed just 10 runs. Rashid Khan was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 31 runs off 24 balls with 2 boundaries and a six. Unfortunately, the rest of the batting lineup couldn’t make a significant impact, leading to the team being bowled out for a mere 89 runs.

Delhi Capitals’ Excellence Outplayed Gujarat:

The Narendra Modi Stadium witnessed a stellar performance by the Delhi Capitals. Skipper Rishabh Pant’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss proved to be a game-changer. Ishant Sharma claimed the early wicket of Shubman Gill, dismissing him for just 8 runs. Mukesh Kumar followed up by taking Wriddhiman Saha’s wicket. The Gujarat Titans struggled to find stability, losing wickets consistently.

As the Titans’ innings progressed, Rashid Khan offered resistance with his 31 runs, but Mukesh Kumar ended his innings and took three wickets in total. Ishant Sharma excelled, taking two wickets for 8 runs, while Tristan Stubbs claimed two wickets for 11 runs. Khaleel Ahmed and Axar Patel each took a wicket as well.

Chasing the target of 90 runs was straightforward for Delhi Capitals’ batters. Jake Fraser-McGurk contributed 20 runs in 10 balls, while Abhishek Porel added 15 runs and Sai Hope added 19 runs. Rishabh Pant finished the game with a exceptional boundary, remaining unbeaten with 16 runs in 11 balls, securing victory by 6 wickets.
