IPL 2024 KKR vs MI : Heavy Rainfall At Eden Gardens Causes Toss Delay

Kolkata Knight Riders are all set to face off against Mumbai Indians today at Eden Gardens Stadium, Kolkata.

While KKR would be the first team to be selected for the playoffs this season after this match, Mumbai Indians are the first team to be eliminated this season from the IPL playoffs race.

KKR holds the top spot at the points table with 16 points while MI is at the second last spot on the table with 8 points to their name.

Toss delayed in KKRvsMI

The toss of the mega clash between the two teams has been delayed due to heavy rain in Kolkata. The match is KKR’s final home-match for the season after which they will be playing in other grounds.

Hosting team KKR is bracing itself to secure a seat in the IPL playoffs for the first time in three years as they gear up to face the struggling Mumbai Indians.

Gambhir’s ‘homecoming’ becomes the saving grace

It is safe to say that Gautam Gambhir’s comeback in KKR has led the team to a position where they can qualify for the playoffs.

The ex-captain for KKR had left the franchise in 2017 after winning 2 IPL seasons in 2012 and 2014 respectively. Gambhir has returned as the team’s ‘mentor’ this season.

With eight wins from 11 matches, they currently lead the 10-team standings, and another victory would solidify their place in the playoffs, capping off their home run on a triumphant note.

The match will continue after the rain halts in the majestic capital of West Bengal.
